SARMs: Are they for Real?

SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators) are a class of supplements intended to treat diseases that are currently being remedied by AAS (Anabolic-Androgenic). Some supplements under the SARM family have already gone through human trials for TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy).

Whenever a SARM binds to a receptor, it showcases hypertrophic and anabolic activities in both bones and muscles. This makes it a perfect alternative to TRT for treating muscle wasting and osteoporosis.

But when it comes to bodybuilders, SARMs offer the same health benefits as that of AAS: loss of fats, more muscles, and improved bone density. The exception with SARMs is that they produce lesser side effects than the aggressive AAS.

SARMs naturally have a healthy anabolic-androgenic ratio of around 3:1 and even going as high as 90:1. This is what makes them favorable supplements in terms of building muscles with minimal side effects. At the same time, they have a higher bioavailability for higher absorption and usability.

SARMS vs. AAS

SARMS are considered non-toxic to the liver and has minimal influence on blood pressure. This eradicates the need for pre-loading and settling for on-cycle support drugs. A typical SARM cycle is far less costly compared to a traditional AAS cycle. The chances of experiencing water retention and estrogen-related effects are much lower.

LGD-4033

This SARM is a dozen times more powerful than its siblings at just one-third of the dose. It’s far more suppressive to the HTPA (a system consisting of the hypothalamus, gonadal glands, and pituitary gland, which all play an important role in regulating and developing the immune system and reproductive systems). That means it’s highly recommended to utilize a SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator) post cycle therapy.

MK-677

This SARM in considered to be a non-peptide and a selective agonist of the GH secretagogue receptor. It mimics the ghrelin process within the stomach, which increases the GH and IGF-1 levels without affecting cortisol levels.

GW-501516

While this compound isn’t technically a SARM, it’s more of a PPAR Delta Modulator. It’s basically a selective agonist with an extremely high affinity for PPAR (a group of thyroid and steroid-detecting proteins that has control of gene expression), which regulates the metabolism and development of cells. Such modulation makes it possible for the body to make use of more glucose and create more muscle tissue.

RAD-140

This SARM is the newest of the bunch. So, don’t expect a ton of real-world usage of the supplement at the moment. The good news is, its future looks very bright since it has a jaw-dropping anabolic-androgenic ratio of 90:1. That would mean users can get a ton of muscle-building effects without any mean androgenic results.

MK-2866

This SARM is problem the most popular in the family. It’s widely utilized in preserving muscle mass while one is on a caloric deficit. It does a great job in suppressing the natural production of testosterone at higher and prolonged dosage cycles. In this case, a SERM PCT is required.

An Ideal Alternative

There’s a lot to love with SARMs. In fact, they’re the best replacement for anabolic steroids since they equally offer the same health benefits without the harmful androgenic results. They’re effective in building muscles, burning lots of fat, and enhancing bone density.

The fact that they’re safe for the liver and without any influence on blood pressure makes this ideal for health-conscious individuals. However, one must take the recommended dose and cycle in order to maximize their health benefits. Most SARMs can be stacked so it’s easier for one to achieve the right effect and physical attributes.
